On November 13, 2015 the 3rd International Arbitration Readings in Memory of
Academician Igor Pobirchenko held in Kyiv. The event was organized
by the International Commercial Arbitration Court and the Maritime Arbitration
Commission at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The participants of the meeting discussed issues of
determination of procedural and substantive law and peculiarities of mandatory
rules in international commercial arbitration within the framework of “Applicable law in
international commercial arbitration. The practice of application of the Vienna
Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods”.
Legal
practitioners in the area of arbitration from Ukraine and other European
countries, representatives of the
judiciary, international organizations, and the world of science took
part in the readings.
Konstantin Pilkov, Cai & Lenard’s Managing Partner
and Head of Arbitration Practice, made a presentation dedicated to the law applicable to evidence.
Mr. Pilkov has an extensive experience in commercial and investment
arbitration; he is a member of a number of international arbitration
institutions and one of the authors of the research Ukraine.

practice of Ukrainian courts related to recognition of arbitration agreements
and recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards.
