On 12 April 2016, Cai &
Lenard Managing Partner Konstantin Pilkov visited Kyiv National University
for Trade and Economics to give a lecture to fourth year Commercial Law
students.
Mr. Pilkov spoke about his practice in international arbitration, trade and tax
and his experience in complex cases:
“I was invited to a lecture entitled ‘Preparation for Industry: How to
Start a Career’, to share the most important things I have learnt since leaving
university and my thoughts about the best way to move into the world of practicing
law, with a few small anecdotes along the way.
I wanted to land one major talking point – choosing area of practice and
growing as a specialist of that area. I discussed my own experience as an arbitration
practitioner. This gave me the rare chance to reflect on everything I’ve
achieved since my graduation. I dedicated a section of my presentation to importance
of entering professional groups and communities. I spoke about barrister
associations and arbitration practitioners societies. The best received part of
my lecture were my tips for making oneself a competitive specialist on the
legal services market.”
KonstantinPilkov concluded his lecture with Q&A session. Following the
lecture, the hosts of the event presented a commemorative medal of the
University to Konstantin and made a
tour of the University.
