From 1 to 5 October Ms. Olga Stelmakh, Of
Counsel of the Cai & Lenard Law Firm, took part in the International
Astronautical Congress held this year in Naples.
This event
gathered about 2300 representatives of the space and aviation sectors coming
from over 50 countries. Within the Colloquium on the International Space Law,
organised under the aegis of congress, Ms. Stelmakh delivered a
presentation reflecting situation in the space branch of Kazakhstan as well as
key points of the recently adopted Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Space
Activity”. The presented paper has been co-authored together with Dr.
Schmidt-Tedd, Head of Legal Support, German Space Agency, and is one of the
outcomes of the longstanding cooperation.
Apart from
that Ms. Stelmakh served in a capacity of the rapporteur within the
session dedicated to issues of the international private space law with emphasis
on the adopted in March inst. Protocol on Space Assets to the Cape Town
Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment (referred to as the
Berlin Protocol).
