A round table discussion entitled Way to Efficiency: Improving Arbitration Legislation took place at
the building of the Kyiv Regional Centre of the Ukrainian National Academy of
Law Sciences on December 1,
2015. The event was
organized by the International Commercial Arbitration Court, the Maritime
Arbitration Commission at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and
the Scientific-Research Institute of Private Law and Entrepreneurship of the
Ukrainian National Academy of Law Sciences.
The round
table brought together lawyers and attorneys who are practicing
in the area of international arbitration, judges and scholars. The experts discussed the need to improve arbitration
laws of Ukraine and key aspects ofarbitration practice.
Konstantin Pilkov, Managing
Partner and Head of
Arbitration Practice,
represented Cai & Lenard Law Firm
at this expert round table. “Arbitration law in Ukraine doesn’t need major changes for its development.
It is a stable institute which shouldn’t be reformed unless necessary. Changes are
needed in the courts’ approaches to recognition of and assistance to arbitration.
And it is more a matter of practice than legislative changes,” Mr. Pilkov
commented on the need to reform
arbitration.
