In July 2012 Olga Stelmakh, off-counsel with the Cai & Lenard Law Firm, passed the course on international commercial arbitration.
The course was held at the premises of the International Court of Arbitration to the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris and gathered participants, mainly practicing lawyers, from Denmark, India, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Netherlands, Russia and Ukraine. Upon the successful completion of the course Mrs. Stelmakh was awarded the certificate of the ICC International Court of Arbitration.
The programme was initiated by the Academic Center of Law and Business and included consideration of a number of disputable issues in arbitration proceedings. Moreover, the alternative mechanisms for amicable dispute resolution, provided by specially developed ADR rules, were discussed and particular emphasis was made on mediation. The participants were offered to analyse several moсk cases, and the seniors of the aforementioned International Court of Arbitration and International Chamber of Commerce, as well as representatives of the Paris offices of the international law firms with concentration in international arbitration shared their hands-on experience.
“This programme gave me a unique opportunity to get a deeper understanding of the cornerstone aspects of dispute resolution by means of the international arbitration, to clarify many pertinent issues that are of a professional interest”, - Olga Stelmakh noted.
