On 23 December 2011 the National Competition on
International Arbitration started under the auspices of the European
Arbitration Chamber. The competition is a simulation of an arbitration proceeding for
educational purposes and a qualitative indicator of skills of the students
studying international arbitration.
Student
teams from eight leading Ukrainian universities will enter the competition. To
reach the final, competitors should pass the following stages: prepare a
written memorial as a claimant and as a defendant, defend their position before
the jury and debate with the opponent team.
Knowledge
and practical skills of the competitors shall be judged by the jury consisting
of the leading experts in the field of arbitration.
One of
the arbitrators is Konstantin Pilkov, Cai & Lenard’s Managing
Partner,the
Head of the National Branch of the European Arbitration Chamber.
“The National Competition on International Arbitration may become a good
alternative to the similar international competitions that will allow Ukrainian
students to gain an invaluable experience in this sphere, and will open up a
possibility to obtain a prestige and interesting job in the future,” emphasized
Mr. Pilkov.
